Safety in the workplace and avoidance of accidents are high on the list of AT&S Group’s priorities. The objective is to ensure that in all our activities we achieve the maximum possible level of safety for all our staff. Safety precautions and programs are developed and implemented locally to meet the special requirements of each site, and systematic training helps to build awareness of safety issues and to reduce dangers to the minimum. The high safety standards at all our locations are clearly reflected in the health and safety statistics: since the introduction of the occupational health and safety management system OHSAS 18001:1999 the number of days’ work lost through accidents at work has fallen by 59%, and the number of accidents had been reduced by 21%.

 

Compliance with statutory regulations is a matter of course at all AT&S locations. But in addition to the statutory regulations there are extensive internal systems of rules and measures, including instructions to staff, registers of applicable laws and regulations, cooperation with the responsible authorities, internal and external audits, etc.). Keeping detailed records of all accidents and damages, all environmental and transport incidents, and all near-accidents has over the years helped to identify potential weaknesses and systematically to minimise risks.

 

AT&S encourages safety consciousness in all its staff at all its locations through regular training courses and detailed safety instructions. All employees have an individual responsibility to ensure the safety of themselves and of their colleagues. The introduction of computer-based learning programs in 2008 was another milestone in AT&S’s campaign to enhance safety consciousness throughout the Group, and the use of an environmental and safety quiz for the first time in 2007 helped to raise staff awareness of safety issues and safe working methods to higher levels.

AT&S never stops working on safety – not just to maintain safe working conditions, but also to improve them all the time.

 

Actively encouraging the good health of all its staff is also part of AT&S’s corporate culture. In addition to the legal obligation to provide occupational medical services at all its locations, it also promotes numerous health and safety initiatives, with the aim of protecting and enhancing the ability of all its employees to work productively, and boosting their commitment to delivering top performance.
