AT&S India achieved Elcina awards 2008/09

AT&S India achieved Elcina awards 2008/09 for outstanding performances within Environment Management Systems and Exports

Annually, Elcina-Dun & Bradstreet awards electronics companies in India for excellence in electronics hardware manufacturing and services. This year, AT&S India has been chosen as one of the leading companies in two out of six categories: Environment Management Systems and Exports.

“For AT&S it is a great honour to be awarded as one of the leading companies within environment management and export. It is an exceptional recognition of the comprehensive efforts AT&S India has put into environmental protection and of the outstanding performance within electronics manufacturing – not only in India but also by exporting its products worldwide”, states Harald Sommerer, CEO of AT&S. The plant in Nanjangud was built in 1989 and acquired by AT&S in 1999. It exports mainly to Europe, USA and far-east countries. During financial year 2008/09 the export revenue constituted 86% of its total revenue and, hence, significantly contributed to the economic development and reputation of the region.

As sustainable development and environmental protection are of major importance to AT&S, the company continuously develops innovative techniques and processes to protect natural resources. Recently, AT&S India has successfully established an acid etchant recycling process with copper recovery systems. The new process was developed in cooperation with the Central Electrochemical Research Institute, the mainstay of electrochemical industry in India, and now serves as a model for the PCB industry.

In 1976, ELCINA was the first association to institute annual awards for excellence in electronics in India. The awards are meant to recognise the achievements of Indian electronics/I.T. manufacturing companies within six categories: Exports, Research & Development, Quality, Environment Management, Business Excellence and Enterprenuaral Excellence. The awards were received by Mr Pradeep Mehta, CFO of AT&S India, on behalf of the company on 18 September 2009 in New Delhi presented by the Secretary for the Ministry of Communications & IT, Mr R. Chandrashekar.
